Movie Catch Up Weekend
Posted on June 7, 2004 by Ching under Movies.
This was our movie catch up weekend. Since last weekend was spent shopping, we didn’t get a chance to watch any of our movies. So here’s a quick recap…
You Got Served (via Netflix) can be summed up in four words: great dancing, horrible acting.
Starship Troopers 2 (via Netflix) was just horrible all around. I don’t know what Brian was thinking!
Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban (via Warren Theaters) was quite entertaining but not quite as good as HP2. I thought HP2 was funnier and more exciting, anyway.
The Day After Tomorrow (via Warren Theaters) was great. Loved it. You should go see it.
Monster (via Netflix) had really great acting but it was very depressing. Some of you may want to see it and some of you may not. Charlize looks really ugly so if you’re one who watches Charlize movies to help you get off, this isn’t it.
Anyway, Brian and I are really digging Netflix. The movie turn-around time is very quick. We are averaging about three rentals per week (depending on our schedules), which by my calculation would be almost $50 through our local dvd/video rental chain, so we are saving quite a bit. By the way, I’m almost done processing the rest of the pictures we took from Kansas City. You’ll see those on my next blog posting. In the meantime if you haven’t seen the first set, those can be found here.

Summer Pre-Session
Posted on June 5, 2004 by Ching under School.
Taking a summer pre-session class was the dumbest idea I’ve ever had. A three-credit-hour course crammed into two short weeks is definitely not my idea of the best way to start summer. But alas, it was the decision I made. I don’t think I will ever do it again either.
I had class from 8:00 AM to 12:30 PM and then I had to work from 2:00 PM to 10:00 PM. We were covering anywhere between two to four chapters a day and I couldn’t keep up with the reading. It was totally horrible. The only consolation was that the teacher was really nice and he was really enthusiastic. I think if the class would’ve been taught by anyone else, I would’ve slept through the entire two-week period. Also, he owns Marble Slab Creamery so he took us there for free ice cream yesterday (our last day of class). That was really nice.
Anyway, I recall being relieved at the end of the two-week course. I had planned on sleeping in everyday for the rest of summer. But, lo and behold, my supervisor told me on Friday that I get to start my new nine-to-six shift (which Brian totally predicted, by the way). That’s Mr. Murphy for you.
