New Jewelry
Posted on February 5, 2011 by Ching under Shopping.
I got this new necklace to add to my ever-growing Art by Amy collection. The only thing that wasn’t part of the necklace that they created for me is the fleur de lis charm. I had purchased it a couple of years ago during one of my first trips to the Pink Boa. I usually just wear it with a silk, but I thought I would make it part of this new necklace.
This necklace actually had a different set of pendant and baubles. It had “Grandma” and stuff on it and cost like $110. After we disassembled it and put charms that I had specifically picked out, and after the 20% discount (they were having a rare sale last weekend that actually included Art by Amy stuff), it actually cost much less — which worked out perfect for me.
The new pendant reads “Wine much?” on the front and “She was a glass 1/2 full kind of gal” on the back. I thought that sentiment suited me better than “Grandma” – LOL. They ended up putting that pendant on a pearl necklace and it actually matched that chain better. It worked out for everyone.
What I really like most about Art by Amy jewelry is that the necklace or bracelet you make is completely unique. There won’t be any other necklace or bracelet like mine because of the pendants, baubles and charms I’ve chosen. You get to exercise some creativity and express your individuality. And, the girls at the Pink Boa will help you assemble your jewelry so that it looks right and doesn’t end up wonky. I think it’s awesome! I wish I would’ve thought of it.
Not to be left out, I got some bling for my phone too. I ordered it from the same place that I got some additional toe socks for Brian (thanks for the tip, April). Not that my phone really needed jewelry but, at least now, Brian and I can tell our phones apart. Mine have balls. =P

New Brighton Necklace
Posted on July 14, 2010 by Ching under Wishlist.
I absolutely love my “Ching” necklace. It’s my new favorite. Now I just need to get the letters B, R, I, A, and N.
Would anyone like to get them for me? They’re only $7.50 each.
You can get Brighton at Aida’s, Wild at Heart, K. Lane’s, or Von Maur. Or if you find yourself at Country Club Plaza where we were over fourth of July weekend, you can go to the actual Brighton store there. That’s where I got my Baja Braid Necklace and Brighton sunglasses. Although, I only got a couple of beads while we were in Kansas City. I bought the other beads from Wild at Heart. Their East location is just down the street from where we currently live. They have my other letters on order so I should be getting those soon.
Here are some of the items on my wishlist:
ABC Baja Braid Bracelet (in brown) to go with my necklace ($28)
ABC Baja Braid Spacers (in cognac and black) – I already have two of these in cognac (none in black yet) but could always use a few more ($15 each)
ABC Bali Heart Beads ($8 each)
ABC Cathedral Beads ($12 each)
ABC Classic Short Necklace ($34)
ABC Fleur de Lis Heart Charms ($10 each)
ABC Lucky Charm Holder ($40)
ABC Madera Cube Beads ($18 each)
ABC Mini Charm Necklace ($26)
ABC Mini Contempo Beads ($7 each)
ABC Mini Shine Beads ($5 each)
ABC Mosaic Heart Beads ($8 each)
ABC Pebble Beads ($8 each)
ABC Rocky Road Spacers ($6 each)
ABC Slide Bracelet ($30)
ABC Soho Beads are my absolute favorite; already have half a dozen and could always use more ($8 each)
ABC Contempo Charm Clasp ($10)
ABC Soho Charm Clasp ($10)
I could go on and on and on.. but this should take care of gift ideas for the next few years. I’m quite easy to buy gifts for, don’t you think?
P.S. I’m not just posting this to get free Brighton stuff like I got that free Ladder Golf game last month either. Though, it would be kind of nice if I randomly got some beads out of the blue. It would totally make my day!

Only Diamonds Last Forever
Posted on December 19, 2009 by Ching under Life.
I’m so upset. I tried to wear my Brighton fleur de lis stud earrings today, but the post broke as I was putting the first one on. I was so disappointed. I was thinking they were sturdier than that. Only diamonds last forever, I guess. Brighton is only guaranteed for a year. =P
“Look up the phone number to Von Maur please,” I told Brian since he was on his laptop. “You’ve had those for over a year,” he told me. “You’re S-O-L.”
“No way,” I insisted. “It hasn’t been a year since I got these.” To prove it, I asked him to open our blog on a new tab. I had him do a search for “fleur de lis” and, sure enough, this blog entry was first on the list of search results. I was like, “Right there! What’s the date on on that?”
February 18, 2009. Boo-yah!
I love how my prolific blogging has a way of vindicating me. LOL. I knew that it hadn’t been a year since I bought the earrings! It’s nearing the one year mark, though. In a way, I’m kind of glad that they broke today rather than later. At least it’s still within the one-year-guarantee time period. They could have broken in March. Then I would have really been S-O-L, or so Brian eloquently puts it.
So I got on the phone with Von Maur. I spoke with Jocelyn to see if they could help me out. She told me to just bring it in. The problem was, I was putting the earrings on because I was heading out to a movie. Brian and I were meeting Jan, David, Donna, and Chad at Warren East for Avatar. Lucky for me, Von Maur doesn’t close until 9 PM.
The movie was fantastic, by the way. Almost made me forget about my broken earrings. Not quite, though. I’m still upset about them being broken. The movie is really good, though. I’m eager to see it again, but in 3D this time. We have plans to do that after April and Cory return from Texas. But I digress…
The movie was only two and a half hours long, but after restroom stops and chatting at the theater it was well after 7 PM by the time we got out of there.
Brian was like, “Is it okay if we stop by Cory and April’s first? I told them we would stop by around seven thirty and it’s seven thirty right now.” I told him that was fine as long as we stopped only long enough to drop off our gift for Gavin and didn’t stick around. I’m really glad that we stopped by today, too. We found out that Cory and April are leaving on Monday to spend Christmas in Texas. If we hadn’t stopped by, we would have missed them altogether and Gavin wouldn’t have gotten his present until after Christmas. Isn’t it weird how things just fall into place?
But I’m digressing yet again…
We arrived at Von Maur about a quarter ’til 8 PM. Jocelyn had left for the day, unfortunately. She left at 5 PM. This nice lady named Kayla helped us, though. After explaining to her what had happened, she tried to help us look for those earrings. They did not have any in stock, but she said she could phone other stores to see if they had them. She told me that if we sent the earrings back for repair, it could take a couple of months before they’d be back so it would be faster to replace them. I figured whatever is easiest. I’m just grateful that they’re willing to help me. She took my name and number and promised she would call me once she locates the earrings. In the meantime, I’m going to wait patiently with fingers crossed.

Jewelry is Addictive
Posted on February 18, 2009 by Ching under Wishlist.
Brian bought me a pair of Brighton fleur de lis earrings today. Perhaps as a consolation for getting the cheapest washer and dryer known to man. I really want the Tuscan etched heart necklace that I saw at Carla’s Wild at Heart, though. I wonder if I can find them on sale somewhere.
Anyway, I found out that Brighton is running a “Charmingly Brighton” promotion until March 1. So now I want a Brighton charm necklace, too. Ugh. =P Jewelry is addictive.

My “Art by Amy” Scrabble Tiles Necklace
Posted on February 9, 2009 by Ching under Life.
My “Art by Amy” Scrabble tiles necklace arrived on Saturday. I was so excited! Brian and I went to Wal-Mart and picked up a jewelry tools set for me so I can attach the tiles to the chain.
I am so totally addicted to “Art by Amy” stuff. My favorite part is how you can mix and match sentiment pendants and different baubles and different chains and silks to create your own unique necklace.
Sunny is actually the first to get me into “Art by Amy” jewelry. She wore her “Poker Slut” sentiment necklace and her “Butt Necklace” (both “Art by Amy” pieces) on the cruise. She purchased them from The Pink Boa. I told her that I had never been there so she picked me up from my house and took me there one day.
I ended up coming home with a Pink Panache necklace and the “Poker Slut” sentiment pendant with two silks: one red and one black. Little did I know that would only be the beginning. Since then I’ve added a “C” initial pendant and a fleur de lis pendant to my growing “Art by Amy” collection. Most recently, I added the Scrabble tiles necklace.
If you want to give the special woman in your life something special, please be sure to check out The Pink Boa. The have the best selection of girlie items in town, bar none. I can’t wait to purchase my next “Art by Amy” piece.
BTW, Amy will be at the River Festival this year. I’ve never met her before, but I found this video clip (from almost ten years ago) in Google. I can’t wait to meet her and by new stuff. Enjoy the video!
