Christmas Eve Recap
Posted on January 13, 2016 by Ching under Family.
I just realized that I never posted the photos we took over Christmas. Here are some highlights from Christmas Eve.
We got dad some new Zumba sweatpants and a gift card to Lowe’s since he’s currently remodeling the basement. He’s actually used his gift card already so that worked out really well.
I really didn’t know what to get mom because she already has everything and never asks for anything. I decided to get her the Zumba Gold box set. She was super thrilled and has been using it at home since her favorite Zumba class is on hold until February.
I got Jenni a Passion Planner. That was a no-brainer.
Brian and I got these super soft throw blankets for Christmas last year (Brian got a blue one and I got a cream colored one) and we loved them so much that we decided to get Matt and Jen their own. We figured brown was a safe bet.
Logan just wanted cash again. We decided to make him work for it this year so we put the money in smaller wrapped presents inside another wrapped box inside another wrapped box. I noticed he wasn’t so excited about the present at first.
I don’t think he realized what he was getting until the boxes got smaller. Once he realized he was getting cash, he got pretty excited.
Eli always has some odd requests. One year he wanted a stick vac. Another year he wanted an electric pencil sharpener. This year he wanted a clock that makes relaxation sounds. Brian picked out a really cool one that, in addition to making several nature sounds, projects time on the wall or ceiling.
QQ was pretty easy. He just wanted Hot Wheels.

Christmas Eve – Part II
Posted on December 27, 2012 by Ching under Family, Food and Drink.
Brian and I had Noche Buena at mom and dad’s house in Derby on the evening of Christmas Eve. As always, mom got a little carried away on the cooking. She had more food than people. LOL.
This is mom’s version of embutido.
Mom’s humba.
I’m not sure why we had ham, but we did. LOL.
I’m not sure anyone had any of the chicken because mom put it in the oven to keep it warm and promptly forgot about it. LOL.
Mongo!
Dad was already playing with the JVC Adixxion HD video camera that Jenni got him for Christmas. Leave it up to dad to rig a mount on his baseball cap so he can film his RC planes and helicopters hands-free while he’s flying them.
The mayhem that ensues when the Cannady kids arrive is always a highlight of Christmas Eve at the Alonso household.
Here’s a picture of the boys opening our gift for them.
Brian and I had a big box so we wrapped all three presents individually and then placed them all in the big box and then wrapped the big box also.
Brian and Logan and Jenni played with Brian’s iPad.
Logan showing off his new calculator watch.
Logan playing with one of QQ’s Christmas presents.
I know I’m not supposed to play favorites, but Eli is the sweetest of the three boys.
Here he is playing with the new dry-erase/magnetic chalkboard that we got him for Christmas. I think he likes it.
QQ playing with his new RC car.
He actually ran the battery dead that very night.
Logan got a new RC plane so he can start flying with dad.
It’s mayhem alright.
Logan and his gift card, which I believe is going towards Borderlands 2.
It was great to see the Cannadys on Christmas Eve. Mom sent a bunch of leftovers home with us along with our new stainless steel pots and pans which really made Brian’s day. Thanks for another wonderful Noche Buena. Until next year!

Christmas Eve 2012 – Part I
Posted on December 27, 2012 by Ching under Family.
Brian and I had a busy holiday season. We spent the afternoon of Christmas Eve at his mom and dad’s house so we could see Kevin, Kasey, and their kids because they wouldn’t be able to make it the following day.
Andrea and Kyndra posed for the traditional photo.
Kasey’s friend Julie and her boyfriend JD joined us also.
Andrew opens his stocking stuffers.
Kevin got some anti-bacterial hand sanitizer in his stocking.
Kyndra opening one of her presents.
Julie and JD got David Star Trek PEZ dispensers.
Kyndra and Andrew playing with their table-top air hockey game.

The boys with their matching shirts.
Incidentally, Logan said they had, not one, but two sets of matching shirts this Christmas. I guess Momo had the same idea. LOL. Great minds think alike! Brian and I figured that we couldn’t just give them money. The boys needed some sort of present from us to unwrap on Christmas Eve.
Eli took his shirt off and put his new shirt on. He said he liked it because it was soft and he liked the skull and pirate map printed on it. Of course, Brian and I liked the Jamaica map because it’s one of our favorite vacation destinations.
This is Armando shaking his present to try to figure out what’s inside.
Logan and Brian made a special deal that night. All in all, it was a fabulous evening. We had some great food (pictures here) and played games (Apples to Apples) and had a lot of fun. I’m looking forward to next year’s celebration already!

The Holders: Zane, Apple and Andrew.
Danika and Maryland came out sans Dwayne.
We got Jenni three t-shirts for Christmas. Two of them were decoys.
Her reaction to the real shirt was priceless.
She totally didn’t expect it. It was awesome!
I’m so glad that Jenni is a good sport. She found the shirt just as hilarious as I did.
Zane opening one of his presents.
A photo of Zane with the Mega Bloks (Target) we got him.
Mom got us monogrammed wine stoppers.
I love this picture of Danika.
Danika with her mini play kitchen (Target).

Daddy and Que.
Brian with the boys.
Matthew.
Logan got Black Ops for XBOX 360.
And Crackdown 2.
Eli is soo adorable!
Mom and dad got Matt and Jen a steam vac.
We got Logan a Nano Bridge Battle Habitat Set.
Logan showing off some of his Christmas loot.
Speaking of, I heard through the grapevine (I read it on their blog, actually) that they just got a PS3 to add to Logan’s collection of game systems. He already has a PS2, DSi, Wii and XBOX 360. When Brian found out, he got all excited because now they can be friends on the PS network.
“You should text Logan on his cellphone,” I told Brian. “He would love that. Actually, you should copy Jen C on that.” He is, after all, only ten. LOL.
Eli playing with one of his new toys.
Brian helped Logan put together his new habitat set.
Eli absolutely loved this nano bug thing. He was chasing it all over the basement.
Jenni and Jen C.
Mom and Que.
I have the most well-behaved little nephews.
Eli playing with his Spider-man doodle board that he got earlier that night.
The cool thing is that he sat with me and asked me to show him how to draw some stuff. It was very sweet. Everyone was upstairs, though, so no one saw it. 🙁
Brian and Eli.
Brian and Logan.
I usually ask Jen C what to get the boys for Christmas to make sure I get them something that they actually like. So we got the Bridge Battle Habitat Set for Logan and then some trucks for Eli (that’s what Jen C said he wanted). She said that Que didn’t care what he’d get because he is still too young, so Brian and I decided to go with something practical. We got him a Bundleme. It was a good call too because they were able to use it that very night.
Jen C sent us this picture yesterday. I’m so glad that we got it for them because it looks like they’re getting really good use out of it.
We didn’t go nuts this year like in previous years. We mostly just focused on the kids and got a small gift for everyone else. We got Matt and Jen postage stamps with Que’s photo (Zazzle). I thought they would get a kick out of that.
We got a vest (Banana Republic) for dad to keep him warm while he’s out flying his RC planes and helis, a turtleneck sweater for mom (Ann Taylor), and a Netflix subscription for both of them so that they can take advantage of the Netflix feature on their new TV. Because it’s kind of pointless to have a TV capable of streaming Netflix, if you don’t have a subscription. LOL.
Brian helped dad set up Netflix on the TV so we got to use it that night. We watched National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation and G-Force on instant watch. Logan was in the middle of Battle for Terra when Matthew said it was time to go. It was almost midnight and they still had to set out the cookies and milk for Santa.
Eli and Matthew checking Santa’s whereabouts.
It was getting late. The Cannadys had to go home in time to set out some milk and cookies for Santa Claus.
Brian and I stuck around for a little while after the Cannadys left. We were the last ones to leave. I think it was almost 1 AM by the time we got home. What a night!
P.S. Thank you for our garment steamer, mom and dad. It’s perfect because Brian and I both hate pressing our clothes. We usually just take Brian’s shirts to the cleaners so they can launder and press them for us. That gets to be pretty expensive, though. We didn’t even think of garment steamers until we got one for Richard and Amy (it was on their wedding registry). Ever since then, we’ve wanted one for ourselves. Now we don’t have to buy one! Thank you!
