Congrats to my friend Pia for purchasing her first ever domain! Pia can be found at SugarcoatedandBittersweet.com but I don’t think the DNS has propagated yet.
Speaking of new domains, I gave dad his present over brunch today. Mom and dad treated Brian and I to brunch at Picadilly to celebrate dad’s birthday. It’s a little early but he won’t be in town on April 11, his birthday weekend, so we didn’t have a choice. Brian and I spent the afternoon at their house where Brian napped while I showed dad how to work the albums section. I also hooked up their webcam, which dad was pretty excited about. I think he’s looking forward to checking up on mom and Logan while he’s in Houston. He loves the idea of having a webcam on the site.
Anyhow, in other news — Golden Sushi has turned into a bit of a webzine. I’m not finished uploading all of the articles yet but I’m really getting excited about all the possibilities. That’s all the net-type news I’ve got for you. Back to work again tomorrow. Grrr!
Let me tell you! Bowling was pretty exciting last night. We barely got to bowl three games (because Countryside West Lanes doesn’t start their cosmic bowling until 11:30 pm) and I bowled really crappy but we had a lot of fun. With the big group brawl at the end of the night, complete with a brownie armed with mace, it was more like an action-adventure outing rather than just your everyday variety cosmic bowling gimmick. It felt like the set of Jerry Springer! I’d never seen anything like it in years. I fought the urge to take pictures (as strong as they were – I mean, it would have been so cool to have some WWF-type pictures on here). For one, I didn’t want the other people to think I was weird (as in, what-the-hell-is-she-doing, that sort of thing). You know what I’m saying? Plus I didn’t want to offend anyone. But in speaking with Sarah this evening she made it seem that it would’ve been neat to have captured the whole thing. After all, how many times does that happen in your life? If you’re pacifists like Brian and I, probably never. Anyway, I will remember for next time.
We thought what a beautiful day to have a picnic — and so we did.
Brian and I went to Taco Bell, spent five bucks on food (all we could afford since we are both broke) and drove to our favorite patch of grass at Bradley Fair. Great weather, a little bit of food, a couple of bottles of Orange Crush and a digital camera were all that we needed to have a wonderful time. Check out the pictures!
By the way, did you know that we got conned into parting with $30 for a dedicated cable internet line? Yes, sirree! Why is it that when you can’t connect to the internet because of crappy service somehow your ISP finds a way to convince you that this is YOUR fault and that they can make it better FOR A FEE? What is $30 anyway when you can enjoy many months of uninterrupted service, right? Supposedly the dedicated line will give us a better connection. I wondered if that was BETTER as in FASTER because, you know what, I can’t tell the difference. If it’s not, then how can it be better? Isn’t faster better? How else would you define it? Maybe I’m just impatient.
I shouldn’t gripe about it too much because I agreed to it. It was another one of those heat-of-the-moment decisions that you wish you could take back (kind of like spending $2,000 on the Bowflex). It went like this, “God! I hate these outages! I hate our internet connection! Sure, have them install the dedicated line! Dammit!” Voila! Just like that, the cable company has usurped money out of another unsuspecting broke-ass sucker.
Speaking of which, Brian promised me he would seal the hole that they made through the wall before it starts raining again. I have to make a mental note to remind him because if I don’t it’ll be next year before it gets done. He promised me that he would call the cable company today and cancel our digital cable (we’re switching to regular cable because we’re paying $130 per month right now for our cable and internet combined and we’re hardly ever home to enjoy it; when I am home, I’m on the freakin’ internet) also and he hasn’t done that yet either. I never understood why he wanted all those dang channels anyway (we have all of the digital tiers the cable company offers except for the the Spanish tier; if it were up to Brian we’d have that too and to think that I can comprehend Spanish better than he does)! I think he is having second thoughts about canceling the digital cable. He’s probably hoping that I will forget and then he won’t have to do it. I can sense his reluctance to give it up. I’m giving him until Monday and then I’m going to nag him about it. LOL! I’m really getting good at this “wife” thing!
Not much going on today.. Just staying home, washing dishes, doing laundry, working on daddy’s birthday present, working out and just being bumming around the house (not necessarily in that order). It’s about six o’clock and I’ve barely begun laundry, I haven’t done the dishes and I’m still trying to get motivated to work out. The only thing I’ve accomplished today is bumming around the house and tweaking dad’s suprise. Two out of four ain’t bad. I’m performing at 50% productivity today. It’s so weird because now that we’ve got a working furnace and it’s not so cold inside the house I can’t get myself to work out when during the week that our furnace was broke I woke up at seven everyday and worked out for an hour — I even had to work out in a turtleneck because it was so cold. Now that conditions are more conducive to working out I can’t get myself to do it. Isn’t that something?
Anyway, I took a break earlier. I played with the cats and took some pictures. Felix and Hobbie were helping me procrastinate. Now Blogger is my distraction. I better quit this procrastinating crap already, otherwise I won’t be able to cross off the things on my to-do list. Here are some pictures of Felix and Hobbie to keep you company. I may not be back for a few days because I have to relocate Golden Sushi to a more reliable server (as soon as Fateback’s servers are back up) and work on the new webzine.
